身体や思いとは別の、いわば真実の自分とも云うべき境地にたどり着くため、古の賢人たちは、音楽を発展させた。
つまり、本当の音楽とは、富でも名誉でも、また心の歓びのためではなく、気付きと救いへの道なのだ。

タブラ奏者タイ・バーホー氏が、シタールに中村恵一氏を迎えて贈るインド古典音楽の夕べ
シタールは20もの弦を持つネックの長い楽器ですが、その活気に満ち、心をほっとさせるその音色は、インドの偉大な音楽家達によって、磨きがかけられ、インド古典音楽では欠かせぬ楽器となりました。
シタール奏者 中村恵一氏は、シタールの巨匠 アミット・ロイ氏の弟子。創造的で楽しさにあふれた表現と古典音楽への深い理解をもつ彼は、古典音楽を現代の世に、鮮やかに蘇らせることができる数少ないミュージシャンの一人であるといえます。
一方、タブラは、現在、数多ある楽器の中でも、もっとも複雑な楽器の一つに挙げられますが、その複雑さ故に、驚くほどの繊細さや、メロディアスな音を表現できることが出来ます。
タイ・バーホー氏は、1990年より、タブラの巨匠 ザキール・フセイン氏に師事、研鑽を積んできました。彼の繊細なタッチとインスピレーションに満ちた表現により、音楽はより深く、そして心に響くものとなります。
インドの古典音楽は、古代ナダ・ヨーガの伝統にその根源を有するとされています。「音楽の研鑽を積むことは、すなわち精神世界と科学の探求」といった言葉が、ヴェーダ経典に記載されて以来、数千年に渡って受け継がれ、また発展をしてきました。
この古典音楽を修行するプロセス、あるいは、インド古典音楽にじっくりと耳を傾けることは、単に感情に働きかけるだけでなく、もっと深い精神、深層心理に触れ、自身に変容をもたらす行為とも言えます。
つまり、インド古典音楽を経験することは、己の内面に、エネルギーを積み木の如く積み上げ、瞬間瞬間を生きる力を養うこと。
さらに自身を調整していく感覚を自分自身、他者との間、そして世界との関係において養っていくこと。
これらは、悦びとともに金銭では叶えることができない本当の意味での豊かさであると信じています。
私たちは、古のロマンスに加え、こうした「存在への強くやまない思い」を音楽を通じてお伝えをしているのですが、
この音楽に触れたことで、皆さんが暮らしの中で、自然な心、真の豊かさや思いやりといったものが、
心の地平線の先に見えてくることを願っています。
This evening of music will feature the Kei Nakamura on sitar and the inspired tabla playing of Ty Burhoe. The sitar is an 20 stringed lute with a raised frets on its long neck. It has a vibrant and heart warming tone and has been the Instrument of choice for some of India’s greatest musicians elevating it to become one of the shining stars of Indian classical music. Kei Nakamura is a senior disciple of the sitar maestro, Amit Roy. His knowledge of the tradition along with his creative, joyous expression makes this ancient tradition come alive. The tabla is considered one of the most complex instruments in the music world and is capable of producing an amazingly sophisticated and melodious voice. Ty has trained under the legendary Zakir Hussain since 1990. His touch and inspired expression allow for the music to blend, deepen and come into rhythm with our hearts.
